“Meaning making” is an indigenous cultural concept, whereby shared moments are captured and stored within physical objects.

I spent a summer holiday embroidering onto my Wildflowers print design from the Treasures Collection of Australian native flowers found in Far North Queensland. I embellished the oversized print using embroidered stitches taught to me as child by my mother and aunt, using my Scottish grandmothers tapestry wool collection.

This concept resonates with me as textiles and embroidery have been interwoven in my family for generations and are captured in this piece - where three generations of embroidery knowledge is held in this design.
